Mother re-designs the hotel's bed linen

9:00am: early start to the day (prinicipally due to the desperate urge to leave the nautical hotel asap). Last night we managed to reduce the amount of luggage we brought into the hotels each evening and therefore transferred a great deal of heavy items into a long dress holder. Didn't realise until we laid it down that it rather resembled a body bag:

Tried to discreetly shuffle it down to the car but failed - the hotelier (an entirely new attendant now) rushed to assist us in carrying the two young children we had brutally murdered and stuffed into a body bag down to the car park.


15:00pm: arrived at the hotel in Montpellier. Just as we went to put the key in the door an alarming buzz went off inducing panic - sunglasses fell off, keys got stuck, bags were dropped. Is it the French fire alarm? Oh God, is there some sort of terrorist attack?! No wait, it's coming from our luggage!

The electric toothbrush. The bomb-scare-reaction was created by mother's electric toothbrush. Naturally collapsed into fits of giggles.

20:00pm: sitting in bed with wonderful crab sushi from Carrefour. Mother, still trying to understand that 'wasabi' is not called 'wannabe' and struggling with the sachet of soy sauce, erupts into a tantrum and spills the soy sauce all over the lovely crisp white bed linen:

Not adopting the traditional British 'Keep Calm' mantra, mother enters near hysteria and starts to find some sort of stain remover. First attempt: my prescribed skin cleanser. Second attempt: blue toothpaste... and scrubbed with the bright lime green napkin until:

Yes, the green dye has transferred onto the sheets. We are going to leave as swiftly as possible tomorrow morning.

Never a dull moment travelling with mother.
